also, it shocked me how much happens in IT before the piece of paper comes out of the printer. This drove me into working with a number of software technology vendors in and around the print industry. What’s the most rewarding part of your current role, and what keeps you motivated day to day? Of course it’s the partners. We know today that it’s really difficult to differentiate offerings because technology developments are becoming more and more aligned as the markets move to more common requirements. So, in my current role when talking to partners, I tell them that I can give them a differentiator in the market and engaging with them on this by demoing and talking about it, makes me very excited. This drives me to the next conversation again and again. What’s been the most defining moment in your career so far, and how did it shape your approach to leadership? I think it was when I let go. You have to trust that people can do the job without you. Leadership is not only leading the line, but it’s being also a resource for the team you represent. They are the stars that get you the results not only you. I now believe that you are
only as successful as the people you surround yourself with. I wholeheartedly believe this to be true and attribute my success to this. What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received and how has it influenced your journey? Choose your battles. This came from one of my mentors, David Fung. He was one of the biggest influencers in my career, and he showed me that even though you can’t change the whole world, you can have an impact. This led me to look at opportunities and partners in a different way, placing myself in their shoes to define if I can make an impact on them or not. This allowed me to have a lot of success because I never wasted anyone’s time, least of all my own. What would be your dream job? Master carpenter, building bespoke furniture. Money’s not an issue, what’s your perfect car…and where would you like to drive it? A 1950s Ford F1 pickup truck. I would drive it straight to the nearest timber merchant. Fine dining and good wine or a curry and a pint? Curry – either a king prawn saagwala or naga and non-alcoholic cobra. How do you like to spend your spare time? I love visiting the surrounding villages where I live and having a mooch in the shops and village markets for old tools. Then making stuff in my workshop. Favourite app, and why? Pinterest, I’m always looking for woodworking ideas. Favourite holiday destination? The Cotswolds. Last film you watched? The Whisper Man.

When did you first join the print sector and what attracted you? I actually started working in print following a spell working in the end- user compute market back in the late 90s. It fascinated me how everyone in IT didn’t want to go near printing, and
